General Information

Güzelyurt has hosted many cultures throughout history. Formerly known as Gelveri, this district was once home to both Greeks and Turks who lived together for many years. Following the 1924 population exchange, the Greek population left the area, but the stone mansions and old churches they built still stand today. The cut-stone buildings reflect traditional Cappadocian architecture, and some of them are now used as boutique hotels or art studios.
